MMA&A NEWS
MEDIA MAKE-UP’S INTERNATIONAL EXCURSION
Los Angeles Tradeshow
Media Make-up was last month in L.A. mixing with some of the industry’s most renowned make up artists. Tammy and MMA&A trainers, Rebecca Cochrane (prosthetics) and Paula Bonfiglio (hair) attended the Make-up Artist Tradeshow where legends such as Dick Smith and Ve Neill showed off their silicon double chins and amazing prosthetic characters. Vincent Longo demonstrated his make-up range and world renowned “cirque du soleil” makeup designer Nathalie Gagne showed her incredible body painting talent. Between exhibitions of the latest silicon airbrush fluids, demonstrations of the most recent full body casting techniques, amidst make-up competitions and award winning speakers, the three women ensured they remain abreast of the latest international developments. And they brought back some cool new products to prove it!
Visit to Film Capital Affiliate School
Students of Media Make Up Academy could jet off to L.A., attend the international Make-up Artists Tradeshow, then workshops in L.A. and N.Y. through affiliate school Make-up Designory (MUD) if Tammy’s long term plans for international student excursions go ahead.
While in L.A. last month, Tammy called into see MUD’s Tate Holland and discussed a framework where travelling students could learn international skills, form contacts and source work overseas with the help of a local base.
And now that MUD is planning to open a second school in fashion capital, New York, there’ll be twice as much scope for networking.
Tammy Hits Auckland
Tammy circled the globe and was impressed when she landed in “A Cut Above”.
The hair and make-up school’s special effects studio features a giant, full-body-piece foam latex oven (so big it had to be helicoptered into the building) and is fully equipped with the latest technology.
Besides checking out the studio, Tammy also discussed the possibility of offering two weeks of the Advanced Diploma course at “A Cut Above” with a prosthetics trainer whose credits include special effects for Lord of the Rings.
INDUSTRY TALK
Dale Dorning Makes Hollywood
Proof Cosmetic’s Dale Dorning was recently hidden away doing make-up for Hollywood actress, Rosario Dawson. Dale was one of the few in the know as the star kept a low profile over the course of her SA based photo shoot at secret locations in and around Adelaide.
Dale’s next stop is Melbourne, where he’s making-up pop star Sophie Monk and after that he’s off to Sydney to work with model, Paris Hilton.
Proof Cosmetic’s Demo Night
Dale was with us at Media Make-up showing off the latest from Proof Cosmetic’s range on June 28th. There was a good turnout on the night as he demonstrated and talked about products.
Upcoming Atelier Make-up Night
Atelier will be holding a make-up demonstration night at Media Make-up at 6pm, July 19 th. Anyone interested can contact Rebecca on 08 8223 3233.
Cost: $10 at the door.
