MMA&A NEWS

Graduation

2004's Advanced Diploma students proudly flaunted their talents at graduation night's hair and make up parade.

The December 9th show, choreographed by Sharon Morgan, was part of the biggest graduation event yet. And with 80% of graduating students already employed, students had good reason to celebrate.

New Zealand's Oyster of Opportunity

Four lucky Media Make up artists are travelling this May to New Zealand for further training under accomplished prosthetics specialist, Nori, whose credits include blockbuster hit film Lord of the Rings.

Media Makeup's Sue-Ellen Taormina, Bec Cochrane, Jo Clayton and Kim Champion will never forget the two-weeks they'll be spending in studios so extensively equipped there's a foam latex oven that had to be helicoptered into the building, as it wouldn't fit through the door.

Living in North Island's city of Wellington, the lucky four will not only gain valuable skills and experience, but also form contacts which could really enhance future career opportunities. Go get 'em.

The New Zealand trip is part of an on-going annual program. Media Make up plans to select one group of up to six Advanced Diploma students to attend the specialised workshop each year.

Taking on Tai-pei

Meanwhile in Tai-pei, Media Make up trainers Paula Bonfiglio and Sharon Morgan have landed an exciting two-week promotion for Elizabeth Arden. The pair has a great start to the New Year in store, flying out to the Taiwanese capital in January 2005 to begin consultations.

This is the first time Elizabeth Arden have approached Media Make up's agency for their promotions. Tammy sees it as rewarding opportunity to establish a long-term relationship with the company.

If you are a past or present student and are up to something exciting, tell us in an email for our ‘Where are they now?' segment next issue. Attach photos of your work if you can and send them to tammy@mediamakeup.com.au. Don't forget to update us on your contact details.

Where in the world is Tammy?

This is becoming a bit of a regular segment, what with Tammy being a regular globetrotter.

Last time it was L.A., New York and New Zealand, this time Tammy succumbed to the European charms of Italy.

Cycling through Umbria and Florence in September 2004, Tammy took-in idyllic beaches, harbour towns and vales before reaching Rome. And of course, no sooner had the party arrived in the city of wonders – cathedrals, the Coliseum, the Vatican - Tammy, unable to resist, went straight in for a tour of one of Rome's finest make up schools (trying her best Italian!).

Right now, however, the Media Make up director can be found in her Adelaide office back at work with the rest of us.

Agency Expanding

Media Make up's agency arm is growing rapidly in demand amid an influx of calls from potential brides. MMA&A are currently conducting interviews to add suitably qualified hair and make up artists to their books to meet this demand. If you are not already on the books and have experience in hair and make up, particularly weddings, Contact us on 8223 3233 for future work.
