MMA&A NEWS: JULY 05

THE ACADEMY

NZ VISIT TO THE GRAND PALACE

Back from the grand palace of special effects makeup, MMA&A members Sue Ellen Taormina, Kim Champion and trainer Bec Cochrane, won't forget their time in New Zealand.

Boasting world class special effects makeup, A Cut Above academy, based in Auckland, is the new training ground of Media Makeup exchange students.

Under the supervision of famous prosthetics designer and sculptor, Nori Honda (Godzilla, Lord of the Rings, The Incredible Hulk, Bicentennial Man, Men in Black) the three made maquettes sculpted with clay, produced silicon molds and trained in fine detail.

After that it was time for some sightseeing at Weta - commonly known as the backbone of the special effects industry.

And our Media Makeup team came away with some top-secret glimpses of work already underway for the next big film... but what, they cannot disclose!

Media Makeup's New Zealand placement gives a new group of Advanced Diploma students the opportunity to train at A Cut Above each year, for two weeks in May/June.

NEW SPACE FOR ADVANCED DIPLOMA

Media Makeup is expanding its premises in line with growing demand for the Advanced Diploma.

A new prosthetics training facility headed up by specialist trainer, Bec Cochrane will be opening soon, to accommodate our increased Jan/March intake, 2006.

If interested in applying for one of the five remaining spots in the Advanced Diploma, checkout our website for more info, or give us a call on 8223 3233.

SACE

We've had so much interest in SACE this year, that we'll be taking a new group of 20 students for combined hair and makeup training in conjunction with Sherman's Hairdressing Academy.

Students receive fun and practical training and, at the end of it, a Statement of Attainment in Design and Applied Makeup (Code: WRB FS202B) for credit in the South Australian Certificate of Education.

If interested in enrolling, contact Tenielle at Sherman's Hairdressing Academy on 8231 2755.

SHOWCASE

New this year - graduation is getting a whole lot bigger, raising the profile of student work.

On 14 December at Hotel Richmond, we'll be hosting two professional parades, showcasing outstanding hair and makeup.

Keep posted on tickets for the prestigious inaugural Media Makeup Graduation.
