THE ACADEMY
NEW STUDIO
Media Makeup's portfolios are set to shine even more, now that participants will photograph every single completed makeup in the new Media Makeup studio.
From next year, all participants will be required to bring their own camera when performing a makeup, for contributing to their overall portfolios and for assessment.
Digital cameras should be at least 4 mega pixels. Please check the website for more details.
SYDNEY BEAUTY EXPO
Media Makeup Director Tammy and trainer Sharon Morgan have just been off to Darling Harbour's Beauty Expo to check out the Sydney makeup scene and meet with leading industry professionals.
Lash extensions were among the new goodies brought back to the Media Makeup salon. Full sets are now available to clients for approximately $130.00, with each individual hair applied one at a time for a natural look that lasts up to about eight weeks.
In Sydney, Sharon and Tammy also paid a visit to Three Arts College, renowned for its special effects training, and caught up with owner, Dawn, and staff member, Brenda to discuss updates on industry requirements.
Another bonus of the Sydney trip is the new prosthetics textbook and airbrushing DVD now available for use in Media Makeup training.
STUDENTS' FUTURES ASSURED
We're proud to announce Media Makeup's new student 'assurance scheme'. The scheme, with the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACEPT), means the tuition of all media makeup participants is protected and assured in the event of unavoidable course closure, by way of transference to a comparable course at another training facility. Please see the website for details.
NEW TALENT ON BOARD
Media Makeup has just added two more strings to its bow - their names are Chris Geracitano and Michelle Morrisson. Both successful past students, they've come back now as part-time trainers.
Chris is currently in Sydney working with Angela Decrea from Millennium Hair, who won 'State (SA) Hairdresser of the Year'. Angela is competing in the National IHS Hairdressing Awards and Chris is assisting with Makeup.
Michelle is currently working as Head Makeup Artist on children's television series The Fairies. She's been successfully working in the industry for the past few years, including at Channel 9 news.
Check out the web for more details on these two soon.

NEWS
IN THE FIELD
Media Makeup graduate Joanne Bechard is in the UK where she's "landed a fantastic job" with MAC.
"I went in there and totally wowed them! (or tried to anyway) and they called me back the next day and offered me a job."
Since then Joanne has continued to wield her magic behind the MAC counter and is loving it.
"I just want to say, that if it wasn't for the quality training and support from Media Makeup, I wouldn't be in this position today."
Since her training at Media Makeup last year, Amanda Turner has been very busy. Recently working as Counter Manager for Estee Lauder on Victoria's third-largest pharmacy account in Horsham, Amanda is now focusing on freelance work.
"I am almost booked-out until the end of the year… with weddings, photo shoots for families, debs, formals, special occasions etc.".
Congratulations Joanne and Amanda.
